Club Membership
Club Membership is available to any organized body corporate (non-profit or for-profit) karate club/association or organized group of persons consisting of Karateka Members located within Alberta, whose main objective is the instruction and/or participation in Karate, which has applied for Club Membership, has agreed to abide by the Association’s bylaws, policies, rules and regulations and is registered and in good standing with the Association.
The Club Membership year starts September 1st and ends the following August 31st.
A Club Member must have a minimum of one (1) registered Individual Member in addition to the Head Instructor.
A Club Member is allowed to have multiple training locations under the same membership, unless the applicant is incorporated as an Association with its own club members that each/most have their own Head Instructor, who is different than the Head (Chief) Instructor for the Association.
To apply for Club Membership, please complete the application form and email it to the Membership Officer at membership@karateab.org. The Club Membership application processing fee of $100.00 is non-refundable and must be paid prior to the application being considered. Payment of the application fee can be made by e-transfer to treasurer@karateab.org. Payment by cheque is also acceptable and should be mailed to Karate Alberta at its mailing address.
The Membership Officer will review the application form and required documentation. If there is any missing information, the Membership Officer will contact the applicant to request it. Once all required information has been received, the Membership Officer will confirm that the application meets all of Karate Alberta’s criteria for Club Membership. Members of Karate Alberta’s Board of Directors will then interview the Head Instructor for the applicant, prior to making a recommendation to the Board of Directors for acceptance of the Club Membership application. Once accepted, the new Club Member must register its students as Individual Members and remit payment for its annual Club and Individual Member dues, which will include any incremental cost of insurance coverage incurred by Karate Alberta for adding the new Club Member to its policies (i.e. approximately $150-$300). These annual dues are not subject to proration for New Members registering after September 1st.
