Athlete Pathway

Pathway to Becoming a Karate Alberta Team Member

Athletes from any KA Club Member dojo are invited to be part of the KA provincial program. For younger or lower rank athletes KA will offer one to two Developmental Camps in the fall as an introduction to WKF technical aspects of kata and kumite. Additionally, athletes compete at KA and KA sanctioned tournaments to gain experience.

For athletes experienced in WKF training and competition, Team Prospect camps will be held beginning in January, in addition to two KA tournaments to earn ranking points and demonstrate training competence, development and attitude.

Please note that there is now a $250 team prospect registration fee. Once you have been entered into our system a request for payment will be sent out.

Registration as a Team Prospect for the 2026-2027 season is now closed. Registration as a Team Prospect for the 2027-2028 season will re-open in Summer 2027.
